An exhibit from Georgia will be demonstrated during the show

October 12, 2009

The administration of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy received three unique books – the trilogy Light of Christ – Georgia! This is the first academic edition blessed by His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia.

The trilogy is devoted to the history of Orthodox Christian Georgia, its literature, theology, ecclesiastical law, life of saint people of Georgia, and Georgian relics. The edition was prepared by churchmen, famous scientists, public leaders, writers, art historians. It incorporates papers of early writers, including chronographers, writers, holy fathers, tsar-patriarchs, high priests and theologians. As the work progressed, it became clear that secular science should be enriched with theological and spiritual vision and concepts. Thus, the Knowledge and Faith” formula has become symbolic for Georgian Orthodox Church and science unification!

Each section of the edition is introduced by the Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia. It is he who leads the reader through the recent achievements of Georgian science, literature and art as well as spiritual advances and unique samples of Georgian Christian culture. He brings us closer to the holiness of relics that entered Georgia at different times and have rested here for centuries thus becoming Georgian national treasure.

Project author: Nestan (Elizabeth) Kirtadze, scientist and politician, professor of the Tbilisi State University.
Supported by Georgian Patriarchate and UP Print Publishers.
