Calligraphy of the Great Victory

On May 5th, the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy opened an exhibition of calligraphy dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. The calligraphers from various parts of Russia accepted the Museum’s invitation to support the project of creating calligraphy pieces devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. The visitors will be able to view interpretations of the military poems and folk military songs in the pieces created by the Russian masters of calligraphy. The exhibition will include 54 pieces reflecting the essence and horror of the Great Patriotic War and the joy of the Great Victory.

The 5th International Exhibition of Calligraphy is open!

March 14, 2015

Today at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy a gala opening of the exhibition was held. The event was attended by: famous calligraphers, embassies representatives, educational and cultural specialists. The head of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy project and President of Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre Alexey Shaburov delivered a welcoming address to the participants and guests of the exhibition. Participants were also cheered by the co-organizer of the exhibition and the director of Sokolniki Park Andrei Lapshin and President of the National Union of Calligraphers Petr Chobitko.

On Sunday, November 14th at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy a master class was organized on monogram art led by the acknowledged Russian specialist on font art, designer and calligrapher, Professor Georgii I. Kozubov (Ph.D. in Art and Humanities). The master class was a part of a personal exhibition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the artist, which will be held in our museum until November 30th, 2014. The exhibition presents the unique font, calligraphic original sketches and works by Professor Georgii Kozubov.

Watercolours and calligraphy in Vitaly Shapovalov’s unique artworks

Calligraphy, Water, And Chance, a one-man exhibition by a world-renowned Russian calligraphy master Vitaly Shapovalov opened today, on September 12th, at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. The whole exposition of the museum is devoted to the most significant works of the artist created over the last years.

Cherished memory of Ilya Trofimovich Bogdesko

March 29th, 2010 the national and international community of calligraphers has suffered a dramatic loss: Ilya Trofimovich Bogdesko, a member of the National Association of Calligraphic Arts, a participant of the International Calligraphic Exhibition, a highly recognized calligrapher, a People’s Artist of the USSR and a full-fledged Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, has passed away.

The Third day of the International Calligraphic Exhibition was linked with a vivid event that was a joint master-class of Petr Petrovich Chobitko, Chairman of the National Union of Calligraphers and his student Olga Varlamova.

The subject of the master-class was the peculiarity of writing ancient canon, semi-canon, cursive and semi-canon cursive  with a broad-end instrument — such as reed, pen and brush.
