In memory of Georgy Kozubov

It is with a profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Georgy Kozubov on August 5, 2018. Georgy was a calligraphy artist, PhD in art history, lecturer, member of the Artists Trade Union of Russia.

His passing is a great loss to the calligraphy society. He was a smart and deep person, an enthusiast, a gifted teacher, and an unsurpassed artist. His awards and achievements are many: laureate of the Leipzig Gutenberg Prize, codirector of the international program Types for Phototypesetting, he won the gold medal of VDNKh (All Russian Exhibition Centre) for introducing the phototypesetter as well as the offset printing technique to the country’s printing plants; participant of the USSR/USA Calligraphy exhibition, permanent participant of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy, to name but a few.

For the VI International Exhibition of Calligraphy, he presented his work Jazz Music which attracted great interest from the audience. Unfortunately, it was his last public appearance.

The staff of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy express their deepest sympathies to the family of Georgy Kozubov and his loved ones.

The farewell ceremony will take place on August 7 at 10:30 a.m. in a church at the Botkin Hospital at: 16 Polikarpova St., Moscow.
