Svyato Cyrillici (Festival of Cyrillic): Festival of Font and Calligraphy

ImageSvyato Cyrillici («Festival of Cyrillic») is a festival of font and calligraphy held on May 23-25 in Kharkov since 2006. This is how the festival initiators (design studio Panic design and Kharkov State Academy of Design and Arts) pay tribute to the developers of Cyrillic alphabet, SS. Cyril and Methodius. Svyato Cyrillici is the exhibition for font, seminars and opportunity to communicate on professional subjects in casual atmosphere. Among the key aims of the festival are: promotion of Cyrillic calligraphy and font design, integration of experience of the older generation and energy of the younger. The festival makes it aim to research and develop Ukrainian writing tradition and font. The festival’s distinctive feature is focus on traditions and modern trends at the same time.

One of the Festival organizers is Art Director of Graphic Design Studio, teacher at the Kharkov State Academy of Design and Art, member of the Association of Graphic Designers 4BLOK Alexey Chekal. The importance of this event in the calligraphic community and its popularity are proved by the fact that it also attracts for participation some other participants of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy.
