Calligraphy in Novgorod Region

As is known, the organizing committee of the III International Exhibition of Calligraphy is headed by Governor of Novgorod Region Sergey Mitin.

As a part of the preparation process the team project of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy went to Borovichi. It is the second largest city of the region located 200 km away from Velikiy Novgorod.

The travel target was to visit Svyato-Duhov (Holy Spirit) Monastery. The team was hosted by Father Valeriy, one of the most respectable priests of Novgorod Region. He told about Gornitsa Sunday School of Calligraphy at the Monastery where everyone can master calligraphy art.

Father Valeriy turned out to be aware of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy, and the President of the National Union of Calligraphers Petr Chobitko had brought him the catalogues of the Moscow and St. Petersburg exhibitions. The project leader Alexey Shaburov touched upon the concepts of the III International Exhibition of Calligraphy which will be held in Velikiy Novgorod from September 10 till September 12, 2010 and presented the priest a calendar of the photo project From Earth to Universe.

It is important that the Calligraphy School in Borovichi is attended by children and adults. The school was equipped with assistance of the local businessmen investing extensively in reconstruction of Svyato-Duhov (Holy Spirit) Monastery and Gornitsa School.
