This November, a long-expected event will take place in Moscow. The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy opens the first National School of calligraphy in this country.
In recent years the public sphere and visitors of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy in St. Petersburg, Moscow and Velikiy Novgorod have been calling on the Museum’s management to launch this project. November 17, 2010 the School opening ceremony will be held with officials and federal media to assist it.
Yuri Koverdyaev is to be a School curator. He is a renowned Moscow calligrapher, a member of Artists Trade Union of Russia, famous for participating in the International Exhibition of Calligraphy, and experting in copperplate print calligraphic portraits and birch barks. In addition, Yuri Koverdyaev is a designer of securities.
The National school of calligraphy will operate on a permanent basis to all comers starting November the 18th with Y. Koverdyaev and other professional calligraphers as teachers.
