Calligraphy, Water, And Chance, a one-man exhibition by a world-renowned Russian calligraphy master Vitaly Shapovalov opened today, on September 12th, at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. The whole exposition of the museum is devoted to the most significant works of the artist created over the last years. A particular impression was made on the audience by: 33 Alphabet Calligraphic Initials, the mind-blowing work illustrating thirty two well-executed, unique in its style, hand-drawn letters of the Russian alphabet; a series of contemporary works made in collaboration with Japanese calligrapher Yoshiko Yoshida , where the sophisticated writing traditions of the East and the West interweave; Creation Of The World series of calligraphic masterpieces which are considered as the master’s creative apotheosis; as well as some individual works on Russian and foreign classical literature, interpreted by the artist in a variety of genres and visual styles of calligraphy. The one-man exhibition by Vitaly Shapovalov will be open for everyone until October 12th, inclusive. Vitaly Shapovalov will hold a live session on September 13th at 2 pm. As part of the session the author will share with the event participants his thoughts on his own art, the masterpieces presented at the exhibition, and will be answering questions.
